My New Year Celebration 2011

After reading all the article and the post I wrote about Chinese New Year, now is time for me to share what I have done and celebrate when Chinese New Year 2011. When before Chinese New Year, I will decorate my house with the sticker and lighting. Is time to Chinese New Year Eve, family will have reunion steamboat dinner as before or previous year. We will ate and gathering with each others then after will prepare to pray for the new year to get good fortune at the following day. After 12am and reach Chinese New Year, I will start pray and hear many fire crackers around the island. Many children would not sleep on this day include me because we believe that did not sleep at Chinese New Year eve will bring parent stay longevity. I will go around Penang temple to pray for been good health and good fortune in the whole year. When reach the first day of Chinese New Year, I will follow parent to relative house and neighbour house for greeting and the most important thing is to take Red P

Last day of Chinese New Year

Last day of the Chinese New Year is the 15th day in the Lunar Calendar. This day is also known as "Oriental Valentine's Day". In China, they will celebrate their Valentine day in today. This day is the Full Moon of the first month and all will celebrate for it. Everyone will play along, see the moon, eat, play riddles, play firecrackers and others. At this day, those who have couple will dating and for those who are still single, they will go seaside to throw orange. Girl will write their name and telephone number above the orange and throw to the sea. Besides that at the sea there will have many guys who sit at the boat to fishing up the orange so that they will contact each others that time. 9th Day of Chinese New Year

As I mention before, everyday of Chinese New Year have different festival to celebrate. In the 9th day of Chinese New Year, many will pray the sky god or "Pai Ti Kong". In Chinese we have different people such as Cantonese, Hockkien, TeoChew, Hakka and others. In the day, Hockkien people will celebrate it because this is their New Year include me because i'm also Hock Kien people. From the history during the Ming Dynasty, the Southern part of Hock Kien or "FuJian" province was plagued with the Japanese pirate, it is happen in the day before so the Hock Kien folks had to escape the onslaught of these pirates and rain to the deep mountains. They were protected from the attack under the shelter of think bushes of wild sugar-cane plants. When the Japanese pirates had retreated, the folks come out from sugar-cane bushes and that day is 9th of the Chinese New Year so they call this day as birthday of Ti Kong an it was celebrate by Hock Kien people. In Chinese New Year, every day will celebrate different festival. The 7th day in the Chinese New Year is mean "People Day". From the China history, this day is consider everyone birthday. Yu Shang When this day is coming, if the weather is good then mean we all will get health but if raining then we will get sick in the year. In this day every family will go restaurant to celebrate and eat among themselve and the most important in the meal is "Yu Shang". Noodle "Yu Shang" will contain seven different foods are fresh salmon, grapefruit, melon, orange, vegetable, source and shortbread. When it put together in a plate then everyone will stand up and fold it then shout "Lao Ah! Huat Ah! Ong Ah! Chinese New Year have many Taboos and Superstitions. Many of us will follow it so that we will have good fortune in the whole year including me. Following are the Taboos and Superstitions when Chinese New Year: 1. Do not take a nap in the afternoon. People believe that is take a nap in the afternoon, people will become lazy whole year. 2. Do not broke the plate or glasses. It is to prevent disaster come. 3. Do not scold each others including children. It is same to prevent disaster come. 4. Do not wear whole black or whole white cloth and dress to greeting others. It is because this two colour is for funeral arrangement and also will bring bad luck to others. 5. On the first day on Chinese New Year, everybody will wear the new cloth and the most happiness is children because they will get red packet or “Ang Pao” from adult and parent. Those who are married will give the red packet to children or those who not yet marry. After that family will go house by house to greeting. Start from relative then after go neighbours house. In the first day, some of the family will call lion dance to their house to perform. From the history, lion is the king of animal and lion dance performance is to get away from others bad beast because when lion dance perform, it will have drum and gong sound then the beast will scared and lion dance bring good luck to the place and for all family. In the first day have many taboo in Chinese New Year. The first is we cannot use scissors and wash our hair it is because we will cut and wash away our fortune. Chinese New Year Eve

As a traditional, when Chinese new year eve all the family member will gather to eat reunion dinner. This meal normally is called “tuan yuan fan’ or reunion rice. Rice being main staple of the Chinese.   This reunion dinner is normally eat at the night time and last day of the old year. This is one of the important days for all Chinese because   many Chinese is live at others place so when the last day they will back to their hometown and have this reunion together will others family members.   Some Chinese make it a point to eat this meal also with their  in-laws  and extended family members. This is a time to  renew  and  reaffirm  family ties. Chinese believe that having an  excess  of food on the table symbolises good  fortune  for the New Year, as it would bring excess  wealth . Chinese will pay important in this day by preparing the food for the family members. Some of the traditional food as below: Dumpling: Meat and vegetables are wrapped not with rice but with a skin made of
