As I mention before, everyday of Chinese New Year have different festival to celebrate. In the 9th day of Chinese New Year, many will pray the sky god or "Pai Ti Kong". In Chinese we have different people such as Cantonese, Hockkien, TeoChew, Hakka and others. In the day, Hockkien people will celebrate it because this is their New Year include me because i'm also Hock Kien people. From the history during the Ming Dynasty, the Southern part of Hock Kien or "FuJian" province was plagued with the Japanese pirate, it is happen in the day before so the Hock Kien folks had to escape the onslaught of these pirates and rain to the deep mountains. They were protected from the attack under the shelter of think bushes of wild sugar-cane plants. When the Japanese pirates had retreated, the folks come out from sugar-cane bushes and that day is 9th of the Chinese New Year so they call this day as birthday of Ti Kong an it was celebrate by Hock Kien people.
